Murder

in the

Mudflats

A novel by Chris Robbins

When a body surfaces in Queens Bay mudflats, local councillor Maggie Ashburn must act quickly to prevent her partner Mark copping a charge of murder.

Despite fielding threats and troubles on the home front, Maggie is catapulted deep into Sydney’s violent criminal underbelly, where she tangles with one-time sparing partner Detective Keith Corvallis and his mate Louie, to try and prove that Mark has done no wrong. Working together… sort of… the mismatched trio uncover a gang of wildlife smugglers, bust a child prostitution racket and expose criminal corruption back at the shire.

But will all that be enough to save Mark?

I’m a writer creating fast-paced, engaging crime stories with a political tilt, exploring themes of relevance in today’s fractured and challenging world. My tales are informed by an insider view gained as an elected councillor on Australia’s Gold Coast, a city with a somewhat fast and loose reputation. My themes include workplace bullying, discrimination, downright corruption, spin, dodgy decision making and ineffective climate action, but always told with a light touch and a lot of humour.
